Adding a Logo with Masking and Keyframes in Video Editing

In this video, I demonstrate how to add a logo to your video project using masking and keyframes.

The process involves creating a mask to reveal the logo as a VR headset moves, ensuring the logo appears seamlessly within the scene. This tutorial provides a step-by-step guide on how to use Figma for logo creation, import it into a video editing software, and fine-tune its appearance with keyframes and effects. By the end of this tutorial, you will know how to integrate a logo into a video project using a masking technique. We start by creating a simple frame in Figma, export the logo, and import it into our video editing software. Using keyframes, we precisely control the movement of the mask to reveal the logo at the right moment. Adjustments to the mask's feathering and opacity ensure a clean, professional look. Finally, additional effects such as scaling are applied to enhance the logo's appearance, resulting in a polished and dynamic final product.

Summary

  1. Introduction to Masking: I start by explaining the concept of masking and its importance in video editing for clean transitions and reveals.
  2. Logo Creation in Figma: I create a 1920x1080 frame in Figma, add the StreamVR logo with a gradient, and export it as a PNG for use in our video project.
  3. Setting Up the Graphics Folder: In our video editing software, I organize assets by creating a graphics folder and importing the logo.
  4. Positioning the Logo: The logo is placed at the end of the timeline, and its size and position are adjusted to match the scene.
  5. Creating the Mask: I use the pen tool to create a mask around the VR headset, ensuring it reveals the logo as the headset moves.
  6. Adjusting Mask Feathering: Keyframes are added to the mask, with feathering set to zero for a sharp edge that follows the VR headset's movement.
  7. Keyframe Placement: I demonstrate how to place keyframes to track the mask's position accurately, ensuring smooth transitions.
  8. Nesting the Logo: The logo is nested within its own sequence, allowing for additional effects to be applied without disrupting the main timeline.
  9. Applying Effects: I add effects such as scaling to the nested logo, creating subtle movements that enhance the overall visual appeal.
  10. Final Adjustments: The final steps involve fine-tuning the keyframes and effects to ensure a professional finish.

Highlights

🎨 Masking Technique: Learn how to use masks to hide and reveal elements in your video.

🖼️ Logo Integration: Understand the steps to create, export, and import a logo into your video project.

🔑 Keyframe Adjustment: Gain skills in setting keyframes to control the position and visibility of the mask, ensuring seamless integration.
